FAQ

What is the first CFL tiebreaker?

Total wins. Points come first in the standings, but between teams tied on points the team with more wins ranks higher.

Does head-to-head count in the CFL?

Yes, it is the second tiebreaker: wins in games between the tied teams, then net points in those games.

What are net points?

Points scored minus points allowed. The CFL uses net points in division games first, then in all games.

Does the crossover tie go to the home division?

Yes. A fourth-place team must have strictly more points than the other division's third-place team; equal points means no crossover.

Is a coin toss ever used?

Only as the very last step, after every statistical tiebreaker is exhausted.

Ties in CFL standings rarely go past head-to-head results, but when they do, the order above is exactly what the league applies.
