The Winnipeg Blue Bombers visit the Toronto Argonauts in the 2026 East Semi-Final on Saturday, October 31 at BMO Field, with kickoff at 1:00 PM ET (noon in Winnipeg). It opens the CFL playoffs and is on TSN, CTV and RDS in Canada, with a free stream on CFL+ in the United States and everywhere else. The winner goes to Montreal for the East Final on November 7.

Winnipeg is the crossover team. The Bombers finished fourth in the West at 9-9, level with Calgary but ahead on the head-to-head tiebreaker, and their 18 points beat the East’s third-place total, so they take that playoff spot. Toronto also finished 9-9 and hosts as the East’s second seed. It is a rematch of two of the last four Grey Cups, both won by the Argonauts.

The First Meeting at BMO Field This Year

The teams split their two regular season games, and both were played in Winnipeg. Toronto gave up three home dates to the FIFA World Cup, and its July 10 home game against the Bombers moved to Princess Auto Stadium, where Winnipeg won 30-21. The Argonauts won the return trip 30-28 on September 25. Saturday is the first time they meet in Toronto in 2026.

How the Blue Bombers Got Here

Winnipeg spent the final month in a three-way fight with Calgary and Saskatchewan for the West’s last two places. A 33-28 home win over Calgary on October 10 kept the Bombers level, a 35-27 loss in Edmonton put them back in danger, and a 34-10 win at BC in the final week sealed the crossover spot. They went 5-5 at home and 4-4 on the road and were outscored 492-477 over the season.

The experience is on Winnipeg’s side. Head coach Mike O’Shea is 7-4 in the playoffs and quarterback Zach Collaros 7-2, and the Bombers played in five straight Grey Cups from 2019 to 2024, winning in 2019 and 2021.

How the Argonauts Got Here

Toronto had second place in the East wrapped up well before the end, with Hamilton and Ottawa out of contention, and the finish showed it. The Argonauts lost their last three: 24-17 at home to BC, 40-39 in Ottawa to a Redblacks team that won only once all season, and 33-16 at home to Montreal. Before that they had won two straight, including the 30-28 game in Winnipeg.

The Argos went 4-2 in their six home games and 5-7 on the road. Head coach Mike Miller is coaching his first playoff game; quarterback Chad Kelly is 2-1 in the postseason.

Grey Cup Rivals

These two have met in the Grey Cup twice in the last four seasons, and Toronto won both: 24-23 in Regina in 2022 and 41-24 in Vancouver in 2024. History is less kind to crossover teams in this round: West teams have a losing all-time record in the East Semi-Final.

What Is at Stake

The loser’s season ends. The winner faces the 14-4 Montreal Alouettes, the best team in the league, at Molson Stadium on Saturday, November 7. Montreal beat Toronto both times this season and split with Winnipeg, losing 44-28 in Winnipeg and winning 37-10 at home. The East champion plays in the 113th Grey Cup in Calgary on November 15, and if Winnipeg gets there the final would be an all-West matchup.
