Edmonton Elks 2026 Playoff Picture

Edmonton clinched a playoff berth on September 12, its first since 2019. At 11-4 the Elks hold first place in the West Division, but the spot is not locked. The BC Lions sit four points back with three games of their own left to play.

First place matters because the division winner skips the semi-final and hosts the Division Final. Second and third place meet in the semi-final a week earlier.

Inside the Edmonton Elks 2026 Season

Mark Kilam took over as head coach and turned a long rebuild around in one year. Edmonton opened with three straight wins and never dropped out of the West Division race after that.

August was the rough patch. Edmonton lost three of four, including a 48-30 defeat in Montreal. The season turned on the Labour Day weekend double against Calgary.

Edmonton erased an 18 point deficit to win 38-28 at McMahon Stadium, then buried the Stampeders 53-16 in the home rematch five days later. That second win clinched the playoff spot and made it four straight.

Three of those wins came by exactly two points and another needed overtime, so the margins have been thin all year. Commonwealth Stadium is where most of the work got done, and home field advantage is what the final three games are still about.
