Inside the Roughriders 2026 Season
The season’s hardest moment had nothing to do with football. Team captain Jayden Dalke died in a traffic collision on July 18, 2026.
On the field the year has split cleanly in two. Saskatchewan started 6-2, built on a double overtime win in Calgary in Week 3 and a 38-7 win over Hamilton in Week 6. Since then the Riders have gone 2-5, including the current three game slide, their first of the season.
Trevor Harris, at 40, has still been the constant. He moved into the top ten on the CFL all-time passing list on Labour Day, passing Doug Flutie and his 41,355 yards on a 72 yard catch and run by Daniel Wiebe. In the October 2 loss he threw for 453 yards and four touchdowns on 36 of 50 passing.
KeeSean Johnson became the fifth player in franchise history to catch 100 passes in a season, finishing the Calgary game on 101 for 1,243 yards, though he left it with a lower body injury. The other four were Don Narcisse, Curtis Marsh, Craig Ellis and Joey Walters.
The Labour Day Classic was the high point of the home schedule, a 32-26 overtime win over Winnipeg in front of 34,352, the biggest crowd at Mosaic Stadium this year. Kicking has been the recurring worry, and the club brought Brett Lauther back from Ottawa at the September 30 trade deadline.
